Pros and cons of dating military
It's not always easy being a military spouse, but for me the benefits far outweigh the costs.
Both husband and wife can grow stronger in their relationship with each other and with the military, and they can form a deep appreciation for what their serviceman or woman does for this country on a day-to-day basis.
I met women who claimed to have been in a marriage where there was no sex, the men never paid then any attention, they were great cooks, and looking for a man who…well let’s face it ladies, men don’t read past the “I need sex” part. And therein lies how I lost lots of money sending money for plane tickets, passports, babysitters, etc. They scuba dive, skydive, fly, write, or even if you just plant flowers and raise a cockatoo that’s fine. That is the information that grounds a person’s description. So when you ask about us, we are really eager to share info about us! Good, now you can move on to Phase 2 and ask question you don’t want your mother to know you have asked.
Life was perfect for me in Southern California and if you told me in March 2005 that in two years I’d be divorced and living in Tajikistan I’d have sent you out for drug testing. While I was deployed and had downtime I was able to sign up on dating sites. Right you will feel imprisoned by your previous brash decisions. Their wife died and a relative in a far off country is watching their child. In reality if something major happens like that while in service we get home for leave.
I know the rules and regulations because it’s my job.
Sitting here, being completely unable to do anything, is making me crazy!
When marrying into the military, spouses must remember that their serviceman or woman is obligated to serve their country.
This doesn't mean that spouses aren't important or less important than the military, but it does mean that they have to understand when duty calls, the call must be answered.
Honestly, the few times my husband's been away on a three- to four-week temporary duty assignment was agonizing, so I couldn't begin to imagine what spouses go through when their husband or wife is deployed for months at a time.
